FedEx US Express Freight Agreement Negotiations

When negotiating a FedEx Express Freight Services agreement, shippers should focus on understanding their specific shipping profile, including volume, destinations, and weight breaks, to effectively target areas for cost savings. It’s beneficial to negotiate discounts on zones and weight-based rates where most shipments fall, as well as seek reductions on surcharges like fuel, additional handling, and oversize fees, which can significantly impact overall shipping costs.

Multi-year contracts with built-in flexibility offer rate stability, while volume-based discount tiers and regular review clauses help maintain favorable terms as needs change. Finally, consider service guarantees for on-time delivery and explore third-party consulting options to maximize savings on this high-impact agreement.
