Major shipping companies such as FedEx and UPS offer money-back guarantees if they deliver packages late. The only catch is that it’s up to customers to apply for the refunds.
“How many people even realize if a package they’ve sent is late?” Brian Gibbs asked.
Gibbs, 34, launched a company with business partner Brandon Byers in 2006 that searches out refunds online for its clients and then applies for them. Called Refund Retriever, the business revolves around a proprietary software program that can access both shippers’ and clients’ websites and determine whether a refund is due.
