2025 UPS Rate Increase, Part 1: Accessorial Fees

UPS announced the 2025 rate increase that will go into effect on December 23, 2024. Incidentally, the 2025 UPS accessorial fees and charges are a large part of every shipper’s weekly billing. Subsequently, the UPS ground and air rates will all increase by an average of 5.9%.

Except for UPS Ground with Freight Pricing packages, Additional Handling Packages determined by length, width or length plus girth are subject to a minimum billable weight of 40 pounds. Additional Handling determined by weight or packaging/other factors will not be subject to a minimum billable weight.

When your company ships to remote or rural destinations, you have seen value-added service fees tacked on the shipment charges called UPS delivery area surcharges (DAS) and extended delivery area surcharges (EDAS). New UPS Credit Card Surcharge 2024

UPS will add a surcharge of 2% of the total invoice amount to all invoices paid by credit card . The new Credit Card Surcharge will appear on the next invoice following the invoice paid by credit card. The surcharge does not apply to ACH or debit card payments. However, the Credit Card Surcharge currently does not apply to accounts based in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Puerto Rico, or Oklahoma.
